More Than Clothing. More Than a Brand. A Legacy in the Making.
Some businesses begin with a great idea.
Others begin with an opportunity.
Boujee Natives began with a question that refused to leave my mind.
What will I leave behind?
As a father of three, that question became impossible to ignore.
One day my children will grow up and begin building lives of their own. They won't just remember the things I bought them or the places we went. They'll remember the values I lived by, the example I set, and whether I had the courage to chase something bigger than myself.
I realized I didn't just want to tell my children to be proud of who they are.
I wanted to build something that would remind them every single day.
That became Boujee Natives.
For years, Boujee Natives wasn't what it is today.
It started as the name of my music group.
Then it became merchandise connected to my music.
Every so often I'd redesign a logo, make another shirt, dream a little bigger, and then life would take over. Responsibilities came first. Bills had to be paid. My family needed me.
The vision never disappeared.
It simply waited.
Deep down, I knew Boujee Natives could become something much bigger than music merchandise.
I just wasn't ready to fully commit.
Then my life changed.
After eighteen years together, the mother of my children and I went our separate ways.
When a chapter that has defined nearly half your life comes to an end, you're forced to face yourself in ways you never expected.
I asked myself questions that I had avoided for years.
Who am I now?
What am I building?
What kind of legacy will my children inherit from me?
I realized something.
Life had stripped away every excuse I had ever made.
There would never be a perfect time.
There would never be less risk.
There would never be another moment that demanded courage more than this one.
I had a choice.
I could let one of the hardest seasons of my life define me...
Or I could let it refine me.
I chose to build.
Boujee Natives stopped being an idea.
It stopped being merchandise.
It stopped being something I talked about "one day."
It became my mission.
I come from different Nations.
I am Apache and Crow.
The mother of my children is Navajo.
That means my children carry the blood, stories, resilience, and strength of multiple Indigenous Nations.
That isn't just something I'm proud of.
It's something I feel responsible for.
Every generation before us survived enough so that we could be here today.
They endured hardships many of us will never fully understand.
They protected language.
They carried ceremony.
They defended identity.
They refused to disappear.
Because of them...
I get to dream.
I get to create.
I get to build.
And now it's my responsibility to leave something meaningful for those who come after me.
Growing up, I rarely saw Indigenous people represented the way I knew we truly were.
Too often we were reduced to stereotypes.
A history lesson.
A mascot.
A statistic.
A people spoken about instead of spoken with.
But that has never been our full story.
Our people are entrepreneurs.
Artists.
Musicians.
Business owners.
Creators.
Parents.
Leaders.
Innovators.
Professionals.
Warriors.
Visionaries.
We are still creating history.
We are still evolving.
We are still building.
And most importantly...
We are still here.
People sometimes ask me why I chose the name Boujee Natives.
The answer isn't what they expect.
To some people, "Boujee" simply means luxury.
To me, it means refusing to believe we have to settle.
It means believing Indigenous people deserve excellence.
Not just survival.
Not just recognition.
Excellence.
In business.
In leadership.
In education.
In creativity.
In fashion.
In wealth.
In purpose.
In legacy.
Boujee Natives is about showing that our identity and success don't compete with each other.
They strengthen each other.
We don't have to leave our culture behind to build something extraordinary.
Every design I create begins with meaning.
Nothing exists simply because it looks good.
Every symbol tells a story.
Every collection represents an idea.
Take the Sovereign Mind Collection.
Most people see a brain.
I see something much deeper.
I believe the first Land Back is the mind.
Before we reclaim opportunity...
Before we reclaim confidence...
Before we reclaim anything else...
We have to reclaim the way we see ourselves.
For generations, other people have tried to define Indigenous identity.
What we're capable of.
Where we belong.
Who we should become.
Boujee Natives rejects every one of those limitations.
Because sovereignty doesn't begin with governments.
It begins within.
It begins the moment you stop asking permission to become who you were created to be.
The moment you truly know your worth...
The world loses its power to define you.
As I continued building this brand, I realized something unexpected.
I wasn't just creating clothing.
I was creating conversations.
Someone notices the crest.
Someone asks what Sovereign Mind means.
Someone asks why the designs feel different.
And suddenly...
We're talking about identity.
Purpose.
Healing.
Culture.
Entrepreneurship.
History.
Fatherhood.
Legacy.
The clothing starts the conversation.
The conversation creates the impact.
That's the part that excites me the most.
That is why this journal exists.
This isn't going to be another blog filled with product announcements or sales promotions.
This is where I'll share the stories behind the designs.
The lessons I've learned through success and failure.
The realities of building a business from the ground up.
The challenges of fatherhood.
The mindset required to keep moving forward when life changes unexpectedly.
We'll explore Indigenous history.
Entrepreneurship.
Culture.
Fashion.
Leadership.
Purpose.
Personal growth.
Business.
Faith.
Creativity.
And the pursuit of building something that outlives us.
Because brands come and go.
Movements endure.
Legacies last.
If you're reading this today, thank you.
Whether you're Indigenous or not...
Whether you're an entrepreneur, an artist, a parent, or someone simply searching for purpose...
I'm grateful you're here.
My hope is that these stories encourage you to think differently.
To believe bigger.
To remember where you come from.
To embrace where you're going.
And to build something your children—and the generations after them—will be proud to inherit.
Because that's what Boujee Natives has always been about.
Not clothing.
Not trends.
Not hype.
Legacy.
Boujee Natives may be the brand I'm building for the world.
But it's also the letter I'm writing to my children.
A reminder that when life changes, your purpose doesn't have to.
Sometimes the hardest seasons become the foundation for the greatest legacy.
Welcome to The Boujee Natives Journal.
We're just getting started.
